Hello 3 Spires!  I bet you can't guess who is singing the climb aboard song!!!!!!!!
CRASH!
Shamash, save us!
CRASH!
Anu help us!
CRASH!
Aruru release from this evil king

Narrator: You people think you have it so bad! Imagine the lives of the people of the great walled city of Uruk, and how bad it was for them! It all happened thousands of years ago, when the heavens were ruled by the great god Anu, and by Aruru, and the Sun-God Shamash. But the earthly city of Uruk was ruled by Gilgamesh, and he was only part god, and part human. Or should I say, part inhuman!

Gilgamesh x 4

Terrible is the tale we bring
Gilgamesh, Gilgamesh
Sorrowful is the song we sing
Of a vile and vicious violent king
Bad King Gilgamesh

Treated his people oh so bad
Gilgamesh, Gilgamesh
Made the citizens oh so sad
And the Gods in heaven were oh so mad
At Bad King Gilgamesh

Black-hearted, hideous horrible
Bloodthirsty, totally terrible
Malodourous, so spiteful
Disgusting, so disgraceful

Burn ‘em at the stake – drown ‘em in the lake
Clap them in irons – feed ‘em to the lions
Pull off their fingers, tear off their thumbs
Scream to the gods but no help comes!

Gilgamesh is dead and gone
Gilgamesh, Gilgamesh
But his story still lives on
So pay attention to the song of
Bad King Gilgamesh

Narrator: So the Gods held counsel together, and decided that King Gilgamesh needed to learn moderation. His was a life out of balance, and to restore that balance they would create another man. This man would be the equal of Gilgamesh – just as strong, just as powerful, just as cunning. But he would bring balance where it was needed. His name would be Enkidu, and he would teach Gilgamesh the meaning of mercy, and the meaning of moderation, and above all, the meaning of love.
And there was Enkidu. Brought up by the animals, and from them he learned how to hunt, how to kill, when to eat, when to sleep, how to rest, and how to fight. Nobody could do what Enkidu could do!

Enkidu Song

Nobody could do what Enkidu could do
Talk to the animals Woof Quack Moo
Friends with the camel, cat and kangaroo
He was the greatest Enkidu (ENKIDU)
Stronger than a lion, swifter than a deer
Cunning as a fox when danger was near
He was a stranger to any kind of fear
He was the greatest Enkidu (ENKIDU)
No-one as strong as he
He was a match for any man
Fearless and bold was he
If anyone can do it
Enkidu can!

Narrator: What, said Enkidu, someone as strong as me? I don't believe it! Someone who could beat me in a fight? Rubbish! Tell me where this mighty King Gilgamesh lives. I'll go and thump him! And straight away, Enkidu set off for the great walled city of Uruk, and as soon as he arrived he called out for Gilgamesh. The King appeared at once, and looked at the strange, hairy warrior. Who on earth are you? he cried.

Enkidu Boasting Song

Look out world, here I come
Lookin' for a hero? I'm the one.
Just look around and you will see
They don't come bigger or better than me.

Don't sweat it, bro, don't fret no more
Cos it's Gilgamesh I'm lookin' for
Gonna bust him up, gonna kick him down
Gonna break his head and then take his crown

So long, say goodbye
Gilgamesh is gonna die
I am Enkidu,
And everything I say is true.
2 and 3 and 4 and 5
The weak gonna fall, the strong survive
5 and 4 and 3 and 2
The real number one is Enkidu

I am the greatest, there ain't no question,
And by the way, did I forget to mention
That I got muscles hard as steel.
You don't believe me? Just come and feel!

Anyone here think they're the best?
Step right up and we'll put it to the test.
But you better write a letter to your mama and say
That you won't be coming home for your dinner today.

So long, say goodbye
Gilgamesh is gonna die
I am Enkidu,
And everything I say is true.
2 and 3 and 4 and 5
The weak gonna fall, the strong survive
5 and 4 and 3 and 2
The real number one is Enkidu

Narrator: You should have seen the fight that took place then!
They punched and thumped and hit and poked.
They wrestled and heaved and grabbed and choked.
They squeezed and teased till they puffed and they wheezed,
But neither could win the fight.
The gods had made them equal, you see, so they were just as strong as each other. After a while they gave up fighting, and decided to become friends, just as the gods had planned
And such good friends they were too! They had many adventures together, but perhaps their biggest adventure was when they fought the monster Humbaba.

Humbaba lived deep in the wood.
Big he was, and ugly too.
His breath stank of fish, but his favourite dish would be YOU!

Don't go in the forest
Gobble, gobble munch
Humbaba is eating his lunch
Don't go in the forest,
Do not dare.
Humbaba is waiting there.

First he'll punch you in the snout
Then he'll rip your liver out
Mash your heart and chop your brains
Throw your eyeballs down the drain.

Humba Humba Humbaba x2
Humba (clap) Humba (stomp)
Better watch out for
(What's his name again?)
Humba Humba Humbaba x2
Humba (clap) Humba (stomp)
Better watch out for Humbaba!

He will poke out both your eyes
Eat your lungs with extra fries!
Suck your fingers and your feet
Humbaba likes human meat.

Humba Humba Humbaba etc

Humbaba will squish your brain,
Make you scream with awful pain.
Turn you into mushy sleet,
Eat your eyelids as a sweet.

Narrator: Humbaba! cried Gilgamesh, your time has come! We're gonna tear out your eyeballs and use them as marbles. We're gonna rip off your leg and beat you to death with it! You and your eggy smelling breath will be no more! Enkidu is going to bite off your arm, and I shall crush your skull to pieces. You, my smelly friend, are an endangered species!

And Enkidu saw that he could not beat the two them together, and he frll to his knees and begged for mercy, but they showed him none. And just before he died, he cursed them both, saying "My curse upon you, Enkidu! Because you have shown me no mercy, I tell you now you shall die a paiful death, and soon! As for you. Gilgamesh, your curse is even worse . When Enkidu dies, your heart will break, and you will never know happiness or friendship again!"

And that is exactly what happened. Enkidu angered the gods, and they decided to kill him. And when he died, and went into the land of shadows, Gilgamesh was indeed heartbroken. He had lost his friend, his partner, his equal, his other half. It was as if a light had gone out in his soul, and the sadness in his heart was unbearable.

Now you're gone I’m all alone
On my own again
Feel my life has reached an end
Lost my only friend
I try to sleep but sleep won’t come
Your spirit won't let go
I lie awake all night through
And think about you

Why did you go?
Why did you leave me?
You filled my world with happiness and light
But you brought me pain and sorrow
When you took away tomorrow
Can’t go on
Since you are gone

Why did you go?
Why did you leave me?
You stood by me and helped me to survive
But you brought me pain and sorrow
When you took away tomorrow
I was happy and fulfilled
But your spirit now is stilled
And my days are turned to everlasting night

Now my hope begins to fade
My world is rearranged
You couldn’t stay, you went away
And now my life has changed
It’s hard for me to say goodbye
I feel so very sad
I never knew that losing you
Would hurt me so bad

Narrator: Gilgamesh was now more afraid of death than ever, and he became determined to find immortality. But how was he going to live forever? Surely, it couldn't be done! Only the gods never die. But then Gilgamesh remembered stories he had heard. Tales about an old man who had cheated death, and who was, in fact, immortal. Gilgamesh set out at once to find him, and after many months of traveling came to a gateway into a cold, dark mountain. If he wanted to find what the one was seeking, he must enter the inky darkness. He must go where no sunlight came, and maybe never see daylight again. But, bravely, he stepped into the terrifying land of night.

Something’s waiting out there in the dark
Something scary, probably hairy.
There in the pitch-black inky-black night
Something to give you a fright. BOO!

Ears pounding, blood pumping
Sh- sh-  shivering, heart thumping
Knees knocking, sweat on my brow
Wish I was at home right now

Weird and freaky frightening dark
I am terrified, practically petrified
Lonely and lost and all on my own
Feels such a long way from home. BOO!

Ears pounding, blood pumping
Sh- sh-  shivering, heart thumping
Knees knocking, sweat on my brow
Wish I was at home right now

Spooky, terrible, black and horrible x 7

Better keep on going I suppose
Hope there are no monsters to bite my toes
Walking through the shadows, here I come
Hope there are no monsters to bite me on the bum
Spooky, terrible, black and horrible

Narrator: It was here in this magical garden that Gilgamesh met an old man calles Utnapishtim, and learned that he was the immortal one. But how did you become immortal ? Gilgamesh asked, and the old man began to explain.

Many years ago, before your time,
The gods decided to kill mankind.
Men were wicked, and women too,
And the gods knew exactly what to do.
They would send a flood and destroy the city!
Kill everyone, and show no pity.
Man was evil, man must die!
This was the order of the gods on high.

Gonna send the rain, gonna make it fall
Cos the time has come to kill you all
You’ve sinned and wasted your lives away
Now it’s time to learn, time to pay
Screamin and cryin don’t cut no ice
All that cheatin and lyin - now pay the price
Horses and hares gonna die
Baboons and bears
Monkeys and rats
Dogs and cats
Zebras and cheetahs
All the same
Gonna pay the price
When it starts to rain
I see you in the water,
drowning in the flood
goldfish and string rays,
lyin’ in the mud
hammerhead and cat fish
you’re all gonna die
no-one will survive
goodbye goodbye
salmon crab and flying fish
jumping in the sky
but they’re still gonna die
and you know the reason why
dolphins and whales
swimming deep below
you better get ready
for a terrifying show.
I can hear the lions roaring
And the dogs and foxes yapping
Every crocodile is snapping
As the waves come crashing
All the animals are thrashing
And they’re dashing all about
But there’s no escape
And there’s no way out
I see you drowning into the deep blue sea Yo!
All you cheetahs and you chimpanzees
Look at all the hippos and tigers,
Drowning into the deep blue sea. Yo!
look at all the lion and lea-pards
Trying hard to escape the sea-eeeh,
But there is no es-cape.
From the terrible DEEP BLUE SEA

Narrator: But one of the gods took pity on the human race, and decided to warn at least one person, so that at least someone would survive, and maybe save the animals too. And so one night this god came down and whispered a warning to the nearest man around. And the nearest man around, said Utnapishtim, was me!

When Utnapishtim looked at the sky
There was ONE rain-cloud floating by
And he called for his wife and his family true
And he said “Listen up! This is what we’re gonna do!”

Go get the hammer, go get the nails
Go get the buckets, and go get the pails
The axe and the chisel and plenty of screws
Cos the water’s comin’ way up to my shoes

When Utnapishtim looked at the sky
There were TWO rain-clouds floating by
And he called for his wife and his family true
And he said “Listen up! This is what we’re gonna do!”

Go get the monkeys, go get the bears
Go get the hippos, and go get the hares
The hogs and the dogs and the fleas and the bees
Cos the water’s comin’ way up to my knees

When Utnapishtim looked at the sky
There were THREE rain-clouds floating by
And he called for his wife and his family true
And he said “Listen up! This is what we’re gonna do!”

Go get my brother, my sister too
Go get my mother, and go get you
Me auntie Mary and me Uncle Fred
Cos the water’s comin’ way up to my head.

Narrator: And of course, said Utnapishtim, I got together as many animals as I could and put them into the boat. After all, they hadn't done anything to be punished for. So I got 2 badgers and 2 baboons and 2 bears and 2 buffalo and 2 beavers and I had to make the boat bigger and bigger to fit evrryone in. And the noise they made when I tried to get them all on board! It was deafening! But they were all glad to get on the boat.

Climb aboard, 1 2 3
Two of every family
Soon be sailing out to sea
In the stormy weather
Elephant, cockatoo
Crocodile and kangaroo
You and me and me and you
All of us together
Dog says woof woof woof
Cow says moo moo moo
Duck says quack quack quack
Wolf says oooooooooooo
Pig says oink oink oink
Cat says miaow miaow miaow
Sheep says baa baa baa
Wolf says ooooooooooo

The sky turned black
The rain began
To fall down from the clouds
The thunder crashed
The lightning flashed
The wind blew strong and loud
And through the wet and whistling wind
Utnapishtim cried
Help us, Shamash! We have sinned,
And we are terrified
Yes! We are terrified.
Rain lash
Splish, splash
Thunder crash
Lightning flash
Drip drop
Plippety plop
When will it ever stop.
Pitter and patter and gurgle and swish
Splashing and crashing and spatter and splish
How do we float in this leaky old boat?
When will it ever stop?

Gilgamesh immortal song

If I could have my way
I’d eat a bar of chocolate every day
I’d never work, but only play
If I could live forever

I’d never die, I’d travel far
I’d drive a big expensive motor car
I’d be a pirate ooo-arrr ooo-arrr!
If I could live forever

I would be a superstar
I’d conquer and I’d rule
I’d be a multi-millionaire
And never have to go to school – cool!

I'd have a slave to clean my room,
I'd go off travelling to the moon,
And maybe buy a big baboon,
If i could live forever!!

My friends would think I'm super cool
I'd go and swim with dolphins in a pool,
I'd send all the teachers back to school,
If i could live forever

I would be a superstar
I’d conquer and I’d rule
I’d be a multi-millionaire
And never have to go to school – cool!
